Physical Education in the 21st century is changing. Prudy Pilkanis and the whole Wellness department saw a need to move toward creating programs that lay a foundation for a lifetime of informed, positive fitness choices as well as a variety of skills for an active, healthy lifestyle. As a part of this transformative program, Prudy proposed an Edfund grant to provide students and teachers with technology to access real-time feedback and analysis. Already in the 2017-18 school year, with the help from this Edfund grant, students in HWRHS are able to track their own progress toward their personal fitness goals.

Frame By Frame
Kirsten Losee and Bill Melville had a vision for their students at our high school. They wanted to create a new course in animation. They dreamed of a course that would use the industry standard equipment and software to give their students a college-level experience in photographic imagery and sophisticated animation while in high school.
Today, because of Kirsten and Bill’s inspiration, dedication, hard work and a grant from the Hamilton Wenham Edfund, students at HWRHS are now using Nikon D610 Digital SLR camera kits and Dragonframe 3.6 software in animation and photography classes. Dragonframe
3.6 is the next generation of image-capture software for stop motion animation.
The features include a visual timeline editor, integrated lip-sync, advanced DMX lighting, motion control and much more.
