How does the Edfund raise funds?

The spirit of volunteerism is alive and well in Hamilton and Wenham! Each year, a growing number of students and adults donate their time and talents to assist with our annual fun and fundraising events. In addition to the events shown below, "fun" raisers over the years have included the Edfund Follies, the Spelling Bee, the Second Chance Prom and Party in the Park.

April:  Edfund Trivia Contest

The 2nd annual Edfund Trivia Challenge was held on Saturday, April 10th, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School. Check out the fun!

May: The Edfund Golf Classic

The Edfund held its 16th Annual Golf Classic on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the Myopia Hunt Club in Hamilton. 76 golfers were given the rare treat of playing this spectacular golf course on a spring day and helped raise more than $25,000 to continue the Edfund’s work of supporting our school community. We were pleased to see many returning golfers and sponsors and extended a warm welcome to many new participants. 60 student volunteers from the junior class at the high school weathered the rain and drizzle to serve as forecaddies, and the Jazz Combo entertained everyone during lunch. The Golf Classic included a reception and dinner buffet for all golfers as well as a raffle and silent auction. We are grateful to those that have provided the framework for the Golf Classic and those that have kept it going with such strong support.

The 3rd Annual Idol Competition was held October 24, 2009 during the Hamilton-Wenham Pumpkin Fest at Patton Park and saw a spirited competition between more than a dozen elementary and middle school students. Trophies were awarded to winners in each age group.

December: Christmas Trees

Our Annual Christmas Tree Sale has been a major fundraising event for the Edfund for many years. Each year, many enthusiastic community members volunteer to sell trees and have found this to be a great opportunity to get family and friends involved in the holidays. It's a great cause, easy to do and a lot of fun. We invite everyone to participate in this fun holiday tradition that has a direct impact on the quality of education in our community.

The volunteer schedule is posted on-line and is updated as volunteers sign up. We like to have at least two families for each shift on weekdays and three families for each shift on weekends. Selling shifts are 2-3 hours long. Please take a look at the schedule to see what times volunteers are needed and email edfundtrees@gmail.com with your name, the time(s) that you are available to volunteer, the number of volunteers and your phone number. This year's sale will once again be held at Patton Park in front of the tennis courts from Friday, December 4th through Saturday, December 19th.
